Meet Our Awesome Staff!

BRIAN-Hello!  My name is Brian, and when I’m not out adventuring with our Excursionites, I am enjoying my own adventures in the great outdoors, and playing music!  I am also back in school working towards a degree in Physical Therapy! I love working at Urban Excursions because I feel the service we provide is special and unique. It gives me lots of joy to have a positive impact on our clients quality of life as well as seeing them happy to get out and about!

RACHEL-My name is Rachel, and I hail from Bismarck, ND. I’ve been living in Portland for almost eight years, three and half of which I’ve been a medical/stroke nurse. When I’m not adventuring about with Urban Excursions, I can be found drinking a warm beverage from either the comforts of home or some newly discovered land. There are very few things that I consider greater than the opportunity to form connection with people.

MEGAN-My name is Megan and I’ve been a cardiac nurse at Portland Providence for the past 3 1/2 years. When I heard about Urban Excursions, I immediately knew that I wanted to be involved. I’m passionate about promoting wellness by helping older adults achieve independence, engage in social activities, and most importantly, to have fun. As a northwest native, I enjoy exploring the outdoors by hiking, camping, and snowboarding.

ADAM-Adam is a native Oregonian who graduated with a Communication Studies degree from Portland State University. Two things initially drew him to Urban Excursions: his desire to explore every quirky place in his hometown, and his love of socializing with others. After he helped care for his own grandfather during hospice (he made a full recovery!), Adam came to recognize a greater connection to his elders. He considers himself lucky to have a job he loves.

SARAH-Sarah Barrett is a student in the gerontology program at Portland Community College. She also works and volunteers at Hollywood Senior Center, Store to Door, and Elders in Action and interned at Laurelhurst VIllage. She earned her Activity Director’s state certification in August 2014. Before moving to Portland from Massachusetts in Fall 2013, she had a long career as a marketing/communications professional in higher education.

SHALOM-Formerly a police officer, Shalom now teaches Yoga and Meditation. He enjoys working with our guests and enjoys cooking, and growing food in his garden.

CINDTHIA-INTERN: Cindthia has been with us for four months now and really enjoys learning to work with Older Adults. This is her first job since graduating high school and she is learning so much!
